In order to commemorate 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and China, National operator KazTransGas JSC along with Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline Company Limited launched gas compressor unit (the GCU) at the “Bozoy” compressor station (the CS) of main gas line (the MGL) “Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent” (BBSh).
“Bozoy” CS is one of the most highly sophisticated compressor stations, which is unique for its ability to receive gas from two min gas lines of different pressure. Gas sources are two large main gas lines MGL “Bukhara-Ural” and MGL “Central Asia – Center”. “Bozoy” compressor station is fully equipped with modern gas compressor units and most advanced compressors “back-to-back” made by special order and not used in the world practice.
Gas compressor unit is launched from Integrated Central Control Room by S.M.Mynbayev, Chairman of the Board of NC KazMunayGas JSC, Kairat Sharipbayev, Vice-President of NC KazMunayGas JSC, and Zhang Jianhua, Director General of CNPC.
During ceremonial launch of “Bozoy” compressor station, Sauat Mynbayev, Chairman of the Board of NC KazMunayGas JSC, thanked Chinese colleagues for collaborative work and noted that that project carried out an important objective set by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. “Today we have participated in significant event for gas industry of the country – said Sauat Mynbayev, - Main gas line “Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent” allows us to strengthen energy security. Therefore, all its objects have strategic value for both Republic of Kazakhstan and People’s Republic of China as well. In addition to the above, launch of “Bozoy” CS allows us to solve several tasks, including enlargement of transportation to 6 bln. cubic meters of gas per annum, and with launch of “Karaozek” station to 10 bln. cubic meters, increase in efficiency of main gas line “Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent”, and providing continuous gas supply to south regions of the country”.
Zhang Jianhua, Director General of CNPC noted the importance of cooperation between China and Kazakhstan. “Launch of “Bozoy” CS is another stage in cooperation of KazMunayGas, KazTransGas and CNPC. “Bozoy” station will give an opportunity to supply gas to even more number of citizens and to increase gas export to China. And in this, “One Belt and One Road” initiative of China is congruent with “Nurly Zhol” Infrastructure Development Program initiated by the President of Kazakhstan”, - noted Zhang Jianhua.
We shall note that MGL “BBSh” is the largest pipeline project in the history of independent Kazakhstan. Its construction set forth in State Program on Forced Industrial and Innovative Development is focused on strengthening the energy security and independence of the country, and diversification of Kazakhstani gas export.
Launch of “Bozoy” is another completed chapter in the history of Kazakhstan’s gas industry, in development of “the Great Steppe’s energy”. This event is implemented pursuant to strategic priorities of KazTransGas, it allows to provide south regions with gas produced from own resources, as well as to establish friendly relations between Kazakhstan and People’s Republic of China.
“Bozoy” CS is constructed in Aktobe region on 311 km of main gas line “BBSh”. The project was started in January 2011, when KazTransGas JSC and Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline Company Limited established a project company Gazoprovod “Beineu-Shymkent” LLC, on equal share basis. Construction of gas pipeline was started in August 2012. Construction of “Bozoy-Shymkent” division totaling 1143.2 km was completed in September 2013. “Beineu-Bozoy” division totaling 311 km was launched in November 2015.
Launch of gas pipeline allows joining all main gas lines of the Republic of Kazakhstan into integrated gas pipeline system: “Soyuz”, “Central Asia – Center”, “Bukhara-Ural”, “Bukharsky gas region – Tashkent – Bishkek – Almaty”, “Gazli – Shymkent”, “Kazakhstan – China”.
